Truth and Reconciliation @ SACHS

Mrs. Fraser lead the school through Truth and Reconciliation activities. The entire school was engaged in activities to learn and listen about Residential Schools. Students painted rocks to remind us as we walk by the courtyard that we cannot forget about what happened to the Indigenous people in our country.
Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. After years of advocacy from Survivors of residential schools, in 2021, the federal government officially named September 30 as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day of remembrance, reflection, action, and learning.
Since 2013, September 30 has been known as Orange Shirt Day, a day to recognize the tragic history and lasting impacts of residential schools through the story of Phyllis Webstad.
