SACHS French Immersion
The French Immersion program is designed for students wanting to complete their K-12 journey in Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools in French Immersion, while enjoying the amenities of a larger campus. The goal of the French Immersion program is to develop in students a high degree of proficiency in French. Subjects taught in French parallel those offered in the regular program. Students will have the opportunity to take French Language Arts, Math and Études Sociales. Science will be offered is enrollment and interest is sufficient. The goal of the French Immersion program at SACHS is to obtain a minimum of 40 credits in courses taught in French over three years, giving the students a French Immersion diploma. 15 credits must be obtained in French Language Arts and it is recommended that students take at least one course in French each semester.
FRENCH LANGUAGE ARTS 10-1, 20-1, 30-1
Designed for French Immersion students, the goal of these courses is to continue to develop oral and written language skills in French. Students develop vocabulary, grammar and language structure skills while gaining an appreciation for classic and contemporary literature from Canada and the World.
ÉTUDES SOCIALES 10-1, 20-1, 30-1
These courses follow the provincial Social Studies curriculum and are taught in French. Language comprehension in both oral and written French is enhanced through the study of relevant Canadian issues, with a focus on globalization, nationalism, and ideology.
MATHÉMATIQUES 10C, 20-1, 20-2, 30-1, 30-2
These courses directly follow the provincial Mathematics curriculum and are taught in French. Students are able to learn the Alberta curriculum while developing their language skills.
SCIENCE 10, BIOLOGIE 20, CHIMIE 20, BIOLOGIE 30, CHIMIE 30
These courses directly follow the provincial Science curriculum and are taught in French. Students are able to learn the Alberta curriculum while developing their language skills.
